Who is Manoj Maity?

Manoj Maity is a freelance digital marketer based in Kolkata, working in this exciting field since 2017.

My journey into digital marketing wasn’t a straight line. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Chemistry, and initially started my career as a private tutor to high school students. Outside the classes, I would spend time at a local cyber café, browsing the internet out of sheer curiosity. I was fascinated by how much information was accessible online.

One day, I stumbled upon a blog post about earning money online. Until then, I saw the internet only as a place to consume content, not as a tool to build a career. That single post opened my eyes to new possibilities. I started exploring topics like selling products, offering services, and using channels like SEO and online ads to market them. That was my first real introduction to the world of digital marketing.

When Reliance Jio launched around 2015-16, it made internet access more affordable across India. I saw this as a golden opportunity to learn and grow in a digital-first world. I didn’t choose digital marketing because it was trending, I chose it because I genuinely found it interesting.

How Did My Digital Marketing Journey Begin?

To get started, I enrolled in an offline course that taught me SEO, website design, and other marketing fundamentals. But I didn’t stop there. I’ve been a continuous learner ever since.

My professional journey began as an SEO Executive at an eCommerce company. Over the years, I’ve expanded my expertise to include Google & Bing Ads, Meta Ads (Facebook/Instagram), content marketing (blogs, videos, etc.), email marketing, online reputation management (ORM), and marketing automation. I’ve worked with both in-house teams and digital agencies, gaining hands-on experience across different industries and challenges.

While working full-time, I started my freelancing journey on the side. It wasn’t easy to juggle both, but my long-term goal was clear: build an independent freelance business around my digital skills.

What Am I Working On Now?

Today, alongside serving clients, I also run a few online businesses as side hustles. This allows me to test marketing tools and strategies in real-world scenarios—if something works well for my ventures, I confidently apply it to my client projects.

I now work with local businesses, travel and tourism brands, D2C eCommerce, and B2B manufacturers/distributors, helping them grow online with practical, affordable, and ROI-focused strategies. I don’t just offer services, I aim to solve real problems like reaching the right audience, improving messaging, and building strong brand visibility.

Digital marketing is constantly evolving, and so am I. I love learning new things and often share my knowledge on LinkedIn and YouTube. When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling, exploring nature, or cycling around the city.
